Privacy Policy

Naptime Candles Co. is a small, family-run shop in Birmingham, Alabama. This policy explains exactly what we collect when you visit naptimecandles.com or place an order, why we collect it, and who else sees it. We have tried to write it plainly and to describe what the site really does rather than what a template says a shop might do.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

What we collect

When you place an order

• Your name, email address, and shipping address.
• What you bought, what you paid, and the shipping method you chose.
• A tracking number, once your parcel has one.

We never see or store your card details. Payment happens on Stripe's own checkout page. What comes back to us is a confirmation that the payment succeeded, not the card number.

When you write a review

Your name, your rating, what you wrote, and your email address. Your name and review are published; your email address is not. We use it only to check whether the review is from someone who bought the item, and to reply if we need to. We do not record the IP address of a review submission.

When you just browse

Your browser sends the usual technical information — the page you asked for, your browser and device type, and your IP address. Our analytics and error-monitoring tools receive some of this (see below). We do not build advertising profiles from it.

Cookies and analytics

This site does use analytics cookies. We run Google Analytics to see which pages people visit and which products get looked at, so we know what to make more of.

We have turned Google's advertising features off. Specifically, ad storage, ad personalisation, and sharing ad-related data are all disabled, so the analytics we collect are not used to target advertising to you anywhere.

We also use Grafana Cloud to record page-load speed and JavaScript errors, and Cloudflare's own traffic measurement. These exist so the shop stays fast and working, not to identify you.

Separately, your browser's local storage holds your shopping cart so it survives moving between pages. That never leaves your device. Clearing it empties your cart and nothing else.

Marketing email

Buying something does not sign you up for marketing. We send you email about your order — a confirmation, and a note when it ships. That is all, unless you have separately and deliberately asked to hear from us.

If we ever add a mailing list, joining it will be an explicit choice with nothing pre-ticked, every message will carry a working one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing will take effect immediately. We will not make you answer a question to leave, and we will not sell or rent the list.

Who else sees your information

Only the companies that make the shop work, and only the part each one needs:

• Stripe — takes the payment. Handles your card details; we never receive them.
• Shippo and the carrier (USPS) — receive your name and shipping address to produce the label and deliver the parcel.
• Resend — sends our order emails, so it handles your email address.
• Cloudflare — hosts the site, the database, and the images, and runs the anti-spam check on the review form.
• Google Analytics and Grafana Cloud — receive the browsing information described above.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it. There are no marketing partners and no data brokers on this list, because we do not use any.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as we need them for our accounts and tax records. Reviews stay until you ask us to remove them. We also keep a copy of each order email we sent you, so we can see exactly what you received if you ask about it.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may have these as legal rights; we will honour the request either way. Deleting an order record is sometimes limited by the tax records we are required to keep, and we will tell you if that applies.

To opt out of analytics entirely, most browsers offer a setting for it, and Google publishes a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics on every site.

Children

This shop is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when the shop changes what it does, and change the date at the top when we do. We do not update it on a schedule just to look current.
